Many people in the cheating (game hacking) community know me as -Loki-. This is a blog about my life, starting with my experience with game cheating.
I have been a gamer at heart since I was a young kid. I remember the first game I played on a console was Mario Bros 2. I played this game at a friend’s house in first grade as my parents didn’t allow video games. Over the years I’ve played many games that I’ve beat and lost interest in. But there was one game that caught my attention; one game that kept me interested long after other games would have been traded in for credit at Game Crazy. This game was Battlefield 2142.
In January of 2007 I bought Battlefield 2142. For those not familiar with 2142 it is a futuristic game that takes place after a nuclear war has left the world in an ice age. Survivors have found that the world lacks enough resources for all to survive so two sides are formed and war breaks out. The game has a great feature (like other BF games) that keeps track of stats. Users progress in rank and earn awards and unlocks based off their performance on the battlefield. This is initially what got me interested in the game.
Within a month I had played enough hours legit to earn the highest rank in the game (not including special ranks). Once I reached that point I realized that I had not earned all the awards so I made it my goal to get to that point. I figured this would be much easier with the use of cheats. So I Googled cheats and found MSX. The hacks I purchased from this site were so terrible their hardly worth mentioning, except to say that this was my introduction to game hacks.
The next site I joined was FPSCheats. They included an aimbot called Instant Kill coded by an amazing coder who goes by the alias HelioS. This aimbot was the best one on the market at the time for 2142. It dominated players on the field and made true my goal of earning all the awards in the game.
There was still something about 2142 that kept me interested. I don’t know if it was the unique game modes that it included (specifically titan mode, my favorite) or if it was the major advantage that using hacks provided. It feels good to be able to pwn people at the push of a button, when your PC is so slow that not using hacks would put you at a disadvantage every time.
I started playing 2142 when patch 1.10 was the current game patch. The way cheat coders made their money at that point was to release an updated hack whenever a new patch came out. This hack would cost customers money for the upgrade. I saw a number of these patches and each time it cost me, but I didn’t mind too much because of the endless fun I had while playing with the cheats.
In October 2007 HelioS released his new multihack known as Framework. This hack allowed users to purchase various levels of the hack, with level three having nospread. This feature is truly amazing as EVERY bullet hits its target. I purchased it and shortly after received my first PB detection “Violation Aimbot 50100”.
At that point I think it would have been wise to stop playing Battlefield and move on with my life. But I didn’t. I kept playing. Cheating was too alluring to stop. I’ve joined many servers, created many characters only to have them banned. I’ve pwnd THOUSANDS of players, and collected just as many dog tags. But I’m at the point I’ve decided I’m going to stop. I can’t spend my entire life playing video games. After all how many successful people do you know who play video games all the time..?
I can’t say that I completely wasted my time playing games. It’s taught me a couple of things. The first is to take the initiative. I now know that I can be a leader and it’s because of my time with this game along with the time in the cheat community that I’ve found and developed leadership qualities that I hadn’t realized I possessed. Furthermore, through the experience I gained much knowledge about how computers work which I’m sure will be invaluable for the rest of my life.
Now I’m sitting here on January 29, 2009 in front of my computer which I’ve spend 3500+ hours gaming on in the past two years wondering what the future holds. I know I can never return and go back down the road of playing online games and cheating to gain the advantage.
It’s been a fun ride. But the time has come for a brighter future.
